HORSE RACE

Origin of Horse Race:

Several centuries ago, humans found that animals from the generation of Equus had the capability of carrying huge loads on their back. Subsequently, humans began to use such animals, which we call horses for load carrying, transportation and racing purposes. Slowly and steadily, a community comprising noblemen and kings developed which took the task of breeding horses and taking care of them and raising them especially for the purposes of endurance and speed. This was for the fact that these people had the necessary capital to deal with the breeding expenditures. It was this class who spent their leisure time in taking part in horse race competitions.

Miscellaneous:

Early origins of racing of horses were first discovered in the paintings of nomadic tribes of Central Asia. These people had begun the domestication of horses as early as 4500 B.C. Horse racing came to be included in the Greek Olympics in and around 638 B.C. By that time, horse racing had become a sporting event in many of the Central Asian and Mediterranean countries. It is believed that the Roman Empire in those days was simply preoccupied by the sport.

Horse Race Genesis in America:

Horse racing started in America at the very moment of the arrival of the Britishers in the continent. It was not until 1665 that the first race track was established in the Long Island in the vicinity of New York. Although horse racing had become popular in the United States on a local basis, professional horse racing began only after the end of the Civil War. Once it started, the sport gained fame throughout the settled regions of the US. However, most of the race tracks in those days were taken over by the criminals of that time. This led to the formation of the American Jockey Club in the year 1894, thanks to the unacceptability of the prominent breeders and track owners.
