Introduction:

Horse racing is a game which attracts maximum attention and is the most common of all games. Countries which allow horse racing earn huge amount in the form of revenues generated through them. For some people, horse racing is nothing but a game containing four legged animals. In fact, the game is more than just a simple race laced with betting. Very few people know about the origin and the growth of horse racing. Many don’t even know the horse breeds that take part in horse racing.

Basics of Horse Racing:

Horse racing had its origins in America at a time when it was a colony of the United States. The initial race track was a green grass pasture in the Long Island. It was a track in which the most famous horse at that time, the “Bulle Rock” participated in horse races. The Jockey Club had its beginnings in the year 1750. Thanks to the migrating families, horse racing spread quickly in the western areas. In that period, horse racing jockeys had to bear the strength of fierce wars and legislations. After the end of the Civil War, the first Derby was organized in the state of Kentucky. It was a roaring success. The current prestigious races in the U.S. comprise of the Preakness, the Belmont Stakes and the Kentucky Derby.

Thoroughbred type of horse is considered to be the most reputed horse breed. The forefathers of this special breed had originated from the Turk and the Arab sites. Seabiscuit is considered to be the most reputed horse to have ever raced. It was a source of inspiration for the Americans to such an extent that a movie and a novel in its name were made. It was so popular at that time that many threats were issued against it.
